Although hard to define, to me, creativity is the ability to create using exploration, exprerience, and new ideas. Being creative can be a struggle at times, but can also give one a sense of satisfaction.
Im not sure if creativity is something that can be taught, but it can defiatley be encouraged by providing a platform which stirs students imaginations and inspires them. When students are given the medium, and taught how to use it effectively, that allows a great foundation for creativity.
Creativity is so important now because a new generation with different abilities and intrests is emerging. One of these intrests is the ability to be creative through digital media. Along with the formal
teaching of the traditional arts, students are provided a new way to be creative and a new opportunity to further their growth.
Digital media can be used to implement creativity in learning through the visual arts by providing a different way for students to think about all the elements of art from a different perspective and learning style. It can really illustrate and further ideas the students might want to express, and can also be shared more easily when shared through media.
This photo illustrates a digital media which was used in a hybrid class of biology and digital media. The student was able to further express, share, and illustrate a theme of biology, along with furthering their creative exploration and abilities.
